Okaysou AirMax8L Review: Keep Your Home Free of Toxic Particles

Airborne pollutants come in various forms, and the presence of them can be a huge detriment to the health of a large segment of the population. Living in an environment that is free from these particles is vital to leading a healthy life.

Mold spores, pollen, pet dander, smoke, and dust mites are just some of the things that may be floating around your home, and you could be inhaling for hours at a time, every single day. Not removing these particles can exacerbate existing health issues, and potentially lead to more serious ones.

An air purifier can vastly improve the air quality in your home. It will remove most (if not all) of the airborne pollutants from your environment, helping you breathe easier. If you suffer from asthma or allergies, air purifiers can make a huge difference in the quality of your life.

In this article, we will take an in-depth look at an air purifier that has generated many rave reviews: the AirMax 8L from Okaysou.

Specs & What’s In The Box?

Large Unit, Long Life

Physically, the Okaysou is a bigger unit than some of the other air purifiers on the market, standing 12.90 inches long x 7.10 inches wide x 19.40 inches high. However, it is still lightweight enough that you can move it from room to room with ease, and it is designed to cover the largest of spaces in your home. In an 800 square foot room, you get 1.5 air changes per hour, with 3/hr for 500 square foot rooms, and 5/hr for 320 square foot rooms. The larger filter size also means you get a longer life, keeping filter replacements to a minimum.

Powerful Filtration

This model uses multiple filters to keep the air clean. First up is a pre-filter, for large particles like lint and fur, which is then followed by a True HEPA filter that takes care of finer particles as small as 0.25 microns. These can include mold spores, dust mites, pollen, and pet dander. The HEPA filter is a layer of antibacterial coating that fights against germs and viruses. Next up is an activated carbon filter which has an additional layer of cold catalyst filter. These work to stop VOCs, odors, and other toxic gases from remaining in the atmosphere. This 5-in-1 filtration system is a medical grade and removes 99.97% of all airborne pollutants.

Quiet As A Mouse

Those that are light sleepers sometimes have trouble falling asleep with a noisy appliance in the room. If this sounds like you, you can rest easy once the unit is put into sleep mode, which showcases the AirMax’s Silenceboost feature. Operation in this mode quiets the fan down to its lowest fan setting which is 28 dB, and it will also turn off any lights that may be illuminated on the unit.

What Makes It Unique?

Use As You Wish

The touch controls included on the top of this unit will allow you to use the purifier as you see fit. Aside from the power button and a filter replacement indicator light, there is also a speed button that controls the operation of the fan. You can choose between low, medium, and high, with the large fan working to reduce the unit’s overall noise level Additionally, there is a child-lock button that keeps the unit from being tampered with, and a sleep button to dim its lights and remove fan noise during slumber. Finally, Okaysou includes a timer button where you can choose between 1, 2, 4, and 8-hour intervals, allowing you to run the AirMax uninterrupted for short or long cleaning sessions.

Air Intake

The air intake is designed to pull in particles and odors, evenly distributing them across the AirMax’s filters. A lot of competitors will pull in the air that only uses a specific portion of the filter, resulting in a lot of wasted area and therefore, a shorter life span. With the air intake on the AirMax being large, the entire filter gets used, resulting in many months of use. Okaysou recommends changing them every 6-8 months, but depending on your environment you could get more (or less) use.

Safety First

The safety ratings on the AirMax are second to none. It produces zero ozone and is CE, SCC, ETL, and CARB certified. Okaysou has also designed the back panel with safety in mind. It attaches with magnets, and if the panel is not properly aligned, the unit won’t turn on.

F.A.Q.

Does the AirMax require filter replacement? And if so, how often?

Yes you will eventually have to replace the filter on this unit, and Okaysou recommends changing it every 6 to 8 months. We also recommend cleaning out the inside of the AirMax every month or so (a vacuum works great for this), to get rid of any debris that may have built-up.

How difficult is it to clean this unit?

It is very easy to clean the AirMax. There is a large panel on the back that removes for access to the filter and fan. By removing the filter, you can clean out any debris in the unit using a damp rag or vacuum. Remember, to always unplug the purifier before you open it up.

Does this air purifier come with a remote control?

Unfortunately, Okaysou does not provide a remote control for the AirMax. The upside is that it has timer modes so you can “set it and forget it”, which it works away.

Can I use the AirMax safely while sleeping?

Absolutely. It even comes with a sleep mode that quiets the fan to 28 dB, and turns off any illuminated lights on the unit, so you can rest peacefully.

Conclusion

The AirMax air purifier fires on all cylinders, delivering a well-rounded, medical-grade unit that will keep your home free of toxic particles. With its large and multiple filters, it ensures maximum efficiency in its filtration, and you get a long life from it, saving you money on filter replacements in the coming years.
